Field of the Invention This invention relates to a composition useful for treating subterranean formations containing water, oil, or gas in order to minimize or eliminate the deleterious effects of such water, oil, or gas on the formations. 2. Description of the Prior Art It is well known in the art to treat subterranean formations containing oil or gas in order to minimize or eliminate the deleterious effects of water, oil, or gas on the formations. For example, it is common practice in the oil and gas industry to stimulate the production of oil and gas from a well bore drilled into a subterranean formation containing oil or gas by hydraulic fracturing operations and/or matrix acidizing operations. In hydraulic fracturing operations, a viscous fracturing fluid is injected into the well bore at a rate and pressure such that fractures are formed in the formation and extended into the subterranean zone. Subsequent operations such as acidizing, conformance control, completion, remedial or enhanced oil recovery operations can be conducted using the fractured subterranean zone. Hydraulic fracturing generally involves introducing a viscous fracturing fluid into a subterranean formation at a rate and pressure such that fractures are formed or enhanced in a portion of the formation. The fracturing fluid may be viscosified by incorporating therein hydratable gelling agents such as cross linked polymers, biopolymers, proteins, and polysaccharides, which form a hydrated three dimensional structure in the fracturing fluid which provides for sufficient viscosity to create or enhance fractures in the formation when the fracturing fluid is pumped into the formation. The fracturing fluid may also contain proppant particles to prevent the fractures from closing after the fracturing pressure is removed. In matrix acidizing operations, a viscous acid is introduced into a subterranean formation for a time and at a rate sufficient to form or enhance acid productive fractures in the formation. The acid causes the formation to swell and/or erode such that the fractures become enlarged and/or new fractures are formed. Suitable acids include conventional hydrochloric acid, hydrofluoric acid, carbonic acid, and mixtures thereof. be359ba680
